The Russian Director of Foreign Ministry Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Mikhail Ulyanov who is visiting Tehran met with Hamid Baeedinejad, the General Director for Political Affairs and International Security at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Baeedinejad and his Russian counterpart reviewed the ways of bilateral cooperation in implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and discussed the latest status of the deal in action.
The two senior diplomats also mulled over a Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction, fight against terrorism, and the spread of extremism in the region.
Both sides also shared the opinion on the necessity of international measures to help disarmament negotiations, especially in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and in the cas of chemical weapons.
During the meeting, the senior diplomats referred to the will of both Iranian and Russian heads for expansion of ties and reassured to have more continuous consultations on the latest of international security and political affairs.
The Russian official paid the visit to Tehran at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Baeedinejad.
